Hello Wisconsin!

We really enjoyed our time in Cloquet, and if it wasn't so challenging to modify all of our upcoming reservations, we might have added a night there.  Since our change in plans to move from Deer River to Cloquet had put us just an hour from our campground in Iron River, Wisconsin, we didn't have to rush to hit the road.  I made some french toast for breakfast and even Henry showered.    Jeff and I considered going to the Great Lakes Aquarium in Duluth since it was on the way, and we had some time to kill before we could check in at the next campground.  He looked on Google and didn't see any RV parking at the aquarium, so I called and found out that since there was a music festival in Duluth this weekend, there was no RV parking, and any parking would be challenging.

So we decided to split up, with Henry and I going to the aquarium and Ruth and Jeff taking the motorhome to Iron River.  Ruth didn't want to go to the aquarium, and I think she also loved the idea of riding in the front seat of the motorhome undisturbed by her brother.

On the way to the aquarium, Henry and I stopped at scenic overlook and dropped into a convenience store to buy some candy and local wild rice.  I had seen  few signs and wanted to pick some up to experiment with at home.

The Great Lakes Aquarium is smaller than the Baltimore Aquarium and some others we've visited, but it was interesting.  They had many local fish in tanks, as well as an exhibit on Isle Royale National Park (and island that sits in the northern part of Lake Superior) and some river otters, which are native to the area.  So that we didn't fall too far behind Jeff, I told Henry we could only stay at the aquarium for about an hour, and that was plenty of time to see everything. For smaller children, there is more to do, including hands-on exhibits and water play areas that explain how dams work and how water moves from the Lake Superior to the Baptism RIver and other areas.

Duluth sits right on the Minnesota-Wisconsin border, so shortly after we left the aquarium, I spotted the "Welcome to Wisconsin" sign and Henry was able to get a picture of it.  It really snuck up on us and it's in a tough spot, but he did a great job.

We drove east along Route 2 for about 40 minutes and met up with Jeff and Ruth at the Top O' the Morn Campground.
